How To Use FaceTime On iPad
FaceTime is easily one of the coolest functions that the iPad has to offer. Instead of just communicating with someone through iMessage, email or by cell phone you can actually talk to them face to face without them being there.
How cool is that? FaceTime is great for friends and family that you may not get to see as often as you would like and for videoconferencing of any kind. With FaceTime you can connect to anyone at any time. But now, let’s see how to use FaceTime on iPad…
1. The first thing you have to do when you want to use FaceTime for your iPad is to go to your iPad settings. Look at the left menu bar in your iPad settings and search for the FaceTime icon. When you tap the FaceTime icon it will bring you to a new menu. Once you reach this new menu you will be given the option to turn FaceTime on or off. Make sure that you have FaceTime turned on.
2. The second thing you have to do when you want to use FaceTime is to tap the app on your home screen that says Facetime.
The icon for the app will be silver with a picture of a video camera on it and in the middle of the video camera will be a picture of a lens (see image on the right).
3. When FaceTime opens up the iPad’s front facing camera immediately goes to work by displaying your face on the iPad screen.
Be careful this can be a little bit of a shock at first because you will be face to face with yourself.
You will notice on the left hand side you will see your contact list where you can select anyone you might want to FaceTime. In order for this person to FaceTime with you they must also have a device that can use FaceTime.
4. If you want to FaceTime someone that is not on your contacts list that is easy to do as well. In the top right hand corner of your contact list you will see a plus sign. When you tap that plus sign you are given the option to add a new contact.
From there you will see a few sections where you will need to fill in the blanks with information such as their name, phone number and email address.
Once they are added to your contact list you can FaceTime them whenever you want.
The good part about using FaceTime on the iPad is that you don’t place calls on an iPad. What that means is all you need is the email address from the Apple ID of the person you are trying to FaceTime and you will be good to go.
Once you send someone a request to FaceTime they will get an indication on their iPad that you want to FaceTime with them. They will have the option to answer your request or if they want to be a real jerk they can always deny you.
Once this person accepts your request your face will move in to a smaller box in the corner of the iPad and their face will become the larger image that is displayed on the home screen. The audio will operate just like a phone call would. You will simply talk to the person on the other end just like you would a normal conversation on a phone or if you were face to face.
It’s that easy!
